You’ll get a smile evaluation and discuss what you would like to change about your smile. This includes missing or crooked teeth, discoloration, broken or chipped teeth and other imperfections.
Periodontal (gum) exam
With our periodontal exam, or periodontal charting, we determine the state of your gums and how much, if any periodontal treatment is needed.
TMJ and bite exam
TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is an important part of your jaw and oral health. A TMJ that is out of place and misaligned can be the cause for ailments such as a popping or clicking jaw, headaches or an incorrect bite. A poor bite can cause problems in eating or wearing away of your teeth.
Dr. Markle checks your TMJ to see if it needs any adjustment and your bite to see if it is in proper alignment and has a good range of motion.
Oral cancer screening
Dr. Markle performs an oral cancer exam on every new patient who comes into the office. Although it’s rare to discover anything, an oral cancer screening can detect a problem before it has a chance to develop into anything further.
